5k Million: how the day played out
The 5k Million finished on Sunday, after 4 days of play that started on 17 September. 106 entries went in over the course of the event, and 15 of them finished in the money, sharing 498.200 €.
The bubble burst around the middle of the day, and from there the shorter stacks had little room left. Lucas Bertheo Van den Belt went out in sixth for 31.300 €, Mikael Johannes Haapaniemi followed in fifth, and Maksim Shuts was eliminated in fourth. That left three, and Vladislavs Petrovs was the last player to leave before heads up, taking 59.500 €.
Heads up started with Ralfs Blumbergs holding the chip lead over Youness Hussein Barakat, and it did not go long. Ralfs Blumbergs closed it out for 123.100 €, while Youness Hussein Barakat collected 76.600 € as runner up, a difference of 46.500 € on the last hand of the tournament.
It is the third cash of the stop for Ralfs Blumbergs, and the one that counts most. With the points from the win Ralfs Blumbergs now sits in 11th place in the season standings on 30.800 points. The day also had the Bomb Pot PLO5 Double Board on the schedule, won by Verners Janis Martinsons for 5.760 €.
